How to go about picking up your share?
1. Only pick up on your designated pickup day: we only have as many shares as we have members on each pickup day. We do not have extra shares.
2. Don’t park illegally: please respect our neighbors’ parking areas and avoid hefty fines.
3. Bring your own bags to gather your produce. In the spirit of recycling and to keep costs down, we do not provide bags. However, we have a bin where members can donate paper and plastic grocery bags, for those who forget their bags.
4. Check your name on the check-in sheet. It helps us keep track of the pickups. The check-in sheet also lets you know if we need to talk to you or if we have something for you.
5. Grab our weekly newsletter: We do our best to provide one every week. It includes recipes, information about your produce, and news about the CSA. The newsletter is also available online.
6. Picking: We handle the produce as little as possible. We like you to do the same. Please do not pick through items to get the best-looking ones. Our vegetables are bred for flavor, not for looks or shelf-life—therefore, they tend to bruise and spoil when handled repeatedly. Please just take the portion indicated and move along to the next crate.
7. Take your whole share: Not more, not less. When you take more, you take from someone else’s share. When you take less, you create leftovers. If you don’t want something, either trade it in the trading baskets, or donate it to the surplus baskets for another member to enjoy.
8. Weighing and Counting: Sometimes you have to weigh or count items for your share. Please weigh or count the exact amount, or slightly under. Taking more than your portion means that members who pick up later may be shorted.
9. Trading: Trade items in the trading baskets, not in the crates on the pickup tables. Also, please trade whole portions, not partial portions. A portion is the amount of any produce that you are supposed to take.
10. Surplus: Surplus goodies are free for all (within reason) and may include farm extras, leftovers from a previous pickup, surplus from members’ gardens, or unwanted items from members’ shares. If you don’t want something that is in your share and there is nothing interesting to trade it with in the trading basket, leave it in the surplus basket for another member’s enjoyment.
11. Can’t make it to the pickup? Ask a friend to pick up your share for you. Shares unclaimed by 7:00 pm on your pickup day are donated to charity. No rain check, no picking up the next day.
