COVID-19 Update

Sara and I care so much about you and our community and are working to implement additional precautions at the Tucson CSA in an effort to keep everyone safe and healthy. As of now, we will continue to hold our regularly scheduled CSA pickups at both the Historic Y and Watershed Management Group. We want to continue providing you with essential resources (nutritious food!), and in order to do that we will be implementing the following precautions:

  • All CSA personnel and staff must stay home if they or someone in their household is sick. (This is not unlike our current protocol – however, volunteers will be reminded that they should not show up to their shift in this scenario.)
  • We will not be offering donated bags from the “I forgot my bag” chest. We ask that you please bring reusable bags from home.We will have a limited number of brand-new compostable bags for those who cannot bring a bag.
  • Volunteers will wear clean gloves and will place produce in your bags for you in order to limit the number of hands that reach into the produce bins. Please be patient, as this new pickup process will take longer than usual.
  • All CSA Shop transactions will take place outside: one person will retrieve and handle food items, the other will handle monetary transactions.
  • All bread sales will be transacted in the CSA Shop so that the bread volunteer does not have to touch money.
  • We will be eliminating the trading table for the time being. (It’s a great time to experiment with your least-favorite vegetable!)
  • We will be wiping down our tables and other touchpoints frequently.
  • Additionally, the Historic Y management team, maintenance and janitorial staff are implementing “High Touch” disinfecting procedures in which common touchpoints, such as door and sink faucet knobs and handles, water fountain activation points, and push points of entry doors and restrooms are thoroughly disinfected on an increased frequency.

As you know, it takes the entire community to make things as safe as possible. During this time, we ask that you help our entire community by:

  • Not coming to the CSA if you or someone in your household is sick. As always, you can send a (healthy) friend or family member to pick up your share – all they need to do is give your name at check-in.
  • Wash your hands frequently. There are several restrooms at the Historic Y where you can wash your hands. Please ask a volunteer if you need help locating them.
  • Try as best as you can not to crowd people in the courtyard or in line, and keep a distance of three feet between you and others.
  • Wash your reusable bags after every use.
  • Thoroughly wash your produce before using it.
  • Adhere to no-touch practices as much as possible. Instead of hugs, we ask that you smile and show kindness in other ways.
  • Be kind. It is in times like these that communities like the one we have at Tucson CSA can uplift us and restore our hope.

It is our honor to be able to provide you with good food during difficult times, and always. Please reach out with any concerns you may have by emailing us at tucsoncsa@tucsoncsa.org.
