Vichyssoise (cold leek and potato soup)

Saute chopped onions and leek until brown. Add chicken or vegetable stock and diced potatoes. Simmer 20 to 30 minutes. Add garlic. Blend the whole thing. Add milk or cream, salt and pepper. Cool in refrigerator.
